Product characteristics:

These are the characteristics identified early in the program during the creation of Quality Function Deployment. These are derived while converting customer critical requirement to product characteristics.

Example:
If the customer critical requirement states that the gears in transmission meets 400 hours before failure, then the conversion of this requirement to product specification is the surface finish of the gear or the class of the gear.
