Here the name of the project should be written. This name should be in synch with the name of the project at the customer facility. Say, you manufacture Battery at you facility for Earthmoving and the year of expected to launch is 2012 and the model is Electrical system.
The preferred name would be
Earthmoving_Electricalsystems_Battery_2012.
Project Description :
Here describe the project undertaken. What were the conditions which lead to the launch of the current NPI project. What are the expectation of the customer from the expected project.
Business Case :
A business case is written to assess if
- Time, money and resources invested provide adequate returns.
- the organization has the ability to deliver the undertaken project on time and within budget.
- the undertaken project can deliver the profit after assessing the risks.
- company's resources are utilized accordingly with good business sense.
- projects with inter-dependencies are undertaken in the optimum sequence ( Wikipedia)
Opportunity Statement :
Every project is undertaken for a reason. In this heading you would like to describe your reason of undertaking this project. You would like to specify, what problems or needs will this project initiative solve?
If there is a black belt project, it will surely specify the current problems and field issue this project endavour will solve. If its a NPI, it will state what needs will initiating this will solve? like new market breakthrough, capturing new customer, Product improvement etc.
Potential Benefits
Immediate benefits, which are an outcome of the project charter are defined. Benefits such as fuel efficiency, conformance to new Government regulations, performance improvement, etc.
